They also wanted to push their own solutions (quicktime) and so maybe they haven't tried particularly hard to make Flash work. It hasn't been a top priority. It obviously is a bit of a problem now and they need to do something about it.
Why does Apple have to do something about it? Haven't they given Adobe all the info (specs, requirements and restrictions) that they need to make a flash player for the iPhone? If Adobe can't do it within those parameters, then it's on them.

I liked the old nano design infinitely better -- just so simple, cool, and perfect. A year ago I was excited to upgrade my mini, which I had always considered ugly, to the sleek, contemporary nano. I don't know... the mini design just never looked good. I can't believe they went back to it, but judging by the comments in this forum, the majority of people seems to like it.
I'm thinking if aluminum and colors, then why not at least elegant, sleek looking colors like anthrazite, dark brown, or steel grey? Oh well.

Ssteve,
I wish you had read my post a little more closely. I did not go through with the exchange process because the form did not accept my serial number as is. I had changed the last letter to see if it would accept something else.
Regardless of that, I will wait til an appropriate time to call or try online again with my serial number. No doubt it will work later either online or on the phone.

instead of riding on the US Military coat-tails ... I would rather we put in a bigger share
Oh... It's a ****-waving thing? :p
If that is the case, wouldn't the US drastically cutting their spending achieve the same goal for you?

I agree and disagree.
agree that the mono mixes are better. but leave the stereo ones alone. they can remaster them if they want... but I dont think the actual mixes should be messed with. I certainly dont trust Sir Paul to be sitting in front of the mixing console saying to George martin "hey, can we turn up the sap?" if all the beatles were alive, maybe. but I'd rather them release the albums with both Stereo and mono mixes on them. like Beach boys did with Pet sounds (and its still only 12.99)
Sounds like a plan. Agreed, Paul shouldn't be left alone at the console! The result is: Let it Be...Naked.
But remastering is critical. As is easy access to what was originally intended: mono.

Besides, no more Intel Core Solo in Mac Mini.
$599 - $579 Academic (3.5% off) Big Whoop.
1.66GHz Intel Core Duo processor
2MB L2 Cache
667MHz Frontside Bus
512MB memory (667MHz DDR2 SDRAM)
60GB Serial ATA hard drive
Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0
Apple Remote
Core 2 Duo will follow after their supply of Core 2 Duo can keep up with other model's needs first - my guess is by Thanksgiving. :) So that report of fulfillment of an order for a Core Solo with a Core Duo was not a screw up mistake on Apple's end. He was just the first to get one.

This is also what I took from it.
It also happens to make more sense than apple showing them the door.
They probably were unable to secure the kind of discounted prices WITH acceptable profit margins to justify the retail space.
Costco wanted to sell the first gen iPad. Apple said no, so Costco booted all the iPods and itunes cards. Oh well, plenty of other places to get Apple gear! I do miss the discounted iTunes cards ($56 for $60 in cards)...

Who the hell wants to watch movie on an iPod. You can't even watch 2 hours of video on the current iPod...think...the battery like will be even WORSE with a larger screen?!?!?
I want a merom macbook pro...right now!!!! I might buy a freeken dell if i have to wait any longer...and I hate windows... I am hoping they will update it on the website tomorrow...tues. sept. 5th....not likely though since they will need a new logic boards because they soldered the core duo chips in...how stupid. Hopefully they will make some other updates since they have to re-do stuff anyway.
Who cares about a new nano also...the current one is fine

If I start taking 1 dollar bets today that it won't happen tomorrow I could probably have enough money to buy one when it does. However, Since I remain optimistic I won't. :D
I've come close 2 times to selling my Apple gift card. 3 Strikes & I'm out.

My 32GB ssd ipod mini is still going strong. These things last pretty well, so even if they discontinue them, buy one on ebay or something and it might last you until something else comes along.

Personally the Zune is looking fairly attrective right now. Ever since the 5th Gen iPod came out everyone has complained that it needed to be widescreen and have a bigger screen. I don't care for the WiFi sharing really but you have to admit the interface looks pretty nice.
The Zune is no more widescreen than the iPod is. And the resolution is exactly the same (320x240), it's just physically bigger on the Zune, and has been rotated 90 degrees compared to an iPod's screen.

Well that's interesting........and wouldn't that be an interesting reason for a smaller screen (to better accommodate "glasses free" 3D.
A lot of smoke here....I couldn't figure out why so many rumors had the iPad 2 at a smaller screen (despite Jobs stance on the issue at iPad 1 launch) and I could see that slipping first, without context to why.
7" iPad is meh.
7" 3D iPad is definitely less meh, but unless they bring more, it won't be enough for me to jump from the 2....check back though in 6 months....
P.s. Apple - I know a "game" system is coming...whether it's this mobile device or a console (ala Apple TV mutant)....bring it!

According to the Wikipedia article, a Home Basic upgrade is only $99.95, which is cheaper than the standard $129 for OS X releases. Then again, education customers can often get Mac OS for around $70 in some cases, if I'm not mistaken. I don't know if there will be education discounts for Vista or how much they will be. With so many versions and price points for Vista and an unknown price tag for Leopard, it's very complicated to make comparisons...
Now one of the big questions is, who can get a Home Basic upgrade and how much are Home Basic users missing out on if they get that as opposed to Aero, etc.? No one knows for sure all the details at this point and we won't know for sure until official announcements are made. Although I would take OS X over Windows any day, we have to be cautious I think before saying Mac's upgrades are cheaper than Windows'. It looks like in many cases they will be, but not necessarily in all cases.
You are mixing apples and oranges here sport. Vista BASIC does not have any comparison in the Apple world. You have to compare the Premium version of Vista.

iLounge has a "First Look" article with photos of all models and accessories. They say that the new nanos have the Search and Smart Scroll feature of the new 5G iPod. Hopefully we with the plastic nanos won't miss out on that. I'm expecting an iPod Updater soon.
Sadly I don't think the 1G nanos will get them. Remember when the video and nano came out, with the stopclock, security lock, etc? The previous iPods didn't get an update :(.

Brilliant.
What do you want me to say that people haven't already voiced?
That The Beatles have received 7 Grammy Awards and 15 Ivor Novello Awards.
That they have been awarded 6 Diamond albums, as well as 24 Multi-Platinum albums, 39 Platinum albums and 45 Gold albums in the United States and in the UK they have 4 Multi-Platinum albums, 4 Platinum albums, 8 Gold albums and 1 Silver album?
The fact that you can just dismiss them is laughable but hey i don't want to upset you anymore than i have.
Oh and stop calling me son.
Madonna has sold more albums than Maria Callas. In fact, Britney Spears has sold more albums than Maria Callas. So you would call Madonna and Spears better singers than Callas.
McDonald's sells more meals per day than El Bulli does in a year: So you would call McDonald's a better restaurant than El Bulli.
The amount of sold items has got nothing to do with musical genius. Which most of the Beatles were very limited on.
Just wanted to point out the obvious flaw in your argumentation there, son.

Spent about an hour on the phone getting through to Apple. I too was having a problem with getting the web site to accept my batteries serial number. I was told that they were aware of the problem and to try later. I waited about two hours and tried again. This time the serial number went through fine. I suspect that matter is simply one of server overload.
There is no need to submit a bogus SN to get a replacement of a battery that is clearly within range. The only reason (if indeed it is a reason) to submit a bogus SN is one of greed.

Over the weekend, even Defense Secretary Robert Gates admitted that America has no vital interest in Libya.Uh yeah. Saw that on Meet the Press. Paul is only telling a half-truth. Gates went on to say that other NATO countries felt they have a vital interest in Libya, and I think we all understand how the NATO treaty works. Whether or not you believe or agree with that, the fact is that Paul misrepresented Gates' statement.
Haven't heard much from Obama about JOBS, JOBS, JOBS lately ...We're heard quite enough about KILLING JOBS, KILLING JOBS, KILLING JOBS from the Republican governors. :D

It's all fun and games until someone wakes up with a dead horse head in their bed.
But seriously... $9.99 to $12.99 movie downloads when I can go over to any store (like, oh, say, Wal-Mart) and buy the real deal for a buck or two more? Just how in God's name is this a threat to them?! Wal-Mart's smartest move would be to drop their DVD prices by that buck or two, until they cost the SAME or LESS than online downloads.
LOL!!! :D very funny.
True enough. Just because you can download doesn't mean most people will. Even with music downloads, I still know plenty of people who never or almost never purchase their music online, they like to have the discs, same thing with movies. I know I would rather own the disc, and rip it myself for whatever format I want. Its just another option for distribution. Not the only one.

Do you know what a computer without drivers is? A paperweight. The OS is not a single monolithic thing; it's made up of many components. The notion of what is "written into the OS" is more complicated than you seem to think, and it's childish to dismiss a vulnerability because it's in a driver.
That it, comparitively speaking, won't be as hard to apple to plug the vulnerability since all they have to do is limit the control granted via the card and/or just update the driver... You can get off your high horse now... :-P
